Today is hubby's birthday. He's an old man of 56 years. Last night we celebrated by going to the Elizabeth Howared Curtain Call Dinner Theater. We saw GREASE. I was so curious as to how they would do that show as a stage production. After all, I fell in love with the movie version in 1978 and remembered all the very active outdoor scenes that were in it. Now I knew they would have to change things a bit to put it on stage, and they definately did make changes. Maybe this was actually more like the original stage production, and the movie took "license" with it. But I have to say, I liked the movie much better. However, this is a small theater and the actors relatively unknowns, but we have never seen a bad production at this venue. I was just disappointed that it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. But we had good food, and a nice evening, and I did enjoy the show in spite of my disappointment in the differences. They even had a smoothie called "Greased Lightenin' Smoothie", a kind of take on the old 50/50 Ice Cream bars. And Hubby enjoyed it and it was for his birthday, so I really can't complain. It was a nice night out and a nice change of pace and I didn't have to cook and that was the best part. In November they will begin a production of "It's A Wonderful Life" at this same theater and I think it might be "wonderful" to see.
Today I've been working on a pennant banner for a display I'll be building next week at church. The display will be to "advertise and collect" food for the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets our church provides to the needy in our area. The pennants will spell out "Share The Harvest". After the display is "built", I'll post some pics. I did this a few years ago with a group of about 10 ten yr.old girls who were in my Missionettes )Christian Scouting Program) club. I threw all the materials out in the floor and told the girls to go for it and they came up with a great display, and then they presented the project to the church and those little girls came up with enough food to feed 25 families. So I figured if it worked then for the kids, maybe it will work again for moi, the Pastor's wife! Ha ha, you think?!! LOL Okay, pics will follow later. TTFN and all that jazz, :)
