5 Grown "Men"

Okay, this is a post script to my "Rockstar" post. I just had to tell this funny story. Yesterday, when we were getting everything set up for the concert, I was inside the Fellowship Hall of the church working on the balloon arch. Some of the guys (3 of them our band members) were just outside setting up the equipment. One came inside looking for a place to plug in the electical cords. He tried the plug that was closest to the door. He said to me, "This plug doesn't work. Do you know where there's another one that is close enough?" I told him that that plug should work, as we use it all the time. Just then, another one of the "men" came up and said, "I just used that plug earlier this afternoon. It works.!" First guy, "I just tried it and it doesn't work." By this time 3 others have arrived and, as I'm blowing up balloons across the room, I look over to see 5 grown men all standing looking at the plug on the wall and discussing among themselves whether or not the plug works or should they try to find another plug. It just reminded me of something straight out of a comedy routine you'd see on TV, and I just burst out laughing! You see these kinds of actions on tv but I, at least, thought it was ONLY on tv and that real people didn't actually act like that! Well, to me it funny and I just had to share it with you! lol

ROCKSTARS!!!

Today we were the "Geezer Rock Star Group", and we even had our very own "groupies"! lol Both in service this morning and this afternoon outside, our band ROCKED! Here's a couple of pics from our Freedom Concert today in our church parking lot. We have video, but have to get it edited and then I'll have to figure out how to post videos on the blog. And check out the balloon arch - first one I ever made. I made half of it, and then I showed a girl in our church how to do it, and she finished up the other half while I went out to help get things set up for our event.

So You Wanna Be A Rock Star?

Soemtimes I don't even know where my brain goes to come up with some of the things that I think of. Does anyone else ever wonder things like that?
O well, tomorrow I'm gonna be a rock star! At least in my own mind anyhow. lol!
We've been planning for a while now for a concert in our church parking lot. Our band will be playing, along with a couple of other groups from other churches.
Our band has had two practices in the last week. You have to understand that we never, I mean N.E.V.E.R. get to practice. Our "practices" consist of us playing for worship every Sunday. But we've been practicing for this concert and we are E.X.C.I.T.E.D.! The whole band is pumped up and we're gonna be ROCK STARS! (Like I said, in our own minds.) We're really just a bunch of geezers! The youngest member of our band, our drummer, is 40. But in our minds, we are all 18 year old rock stars! Anyhow, we're hoping to get it on video, and get some pics, too. I probably won't be able to put up any video, as I don't know how. But after tomorrow night, I'll post some pics so you can see what geezer Rock Stars look like! Okay, TTFN and all that jazz. :)

Vet's Office Today

Today I had to take one of my babies to see the doc. Prowler. He has a "cold" in his eye and it keeps scabbing over, so dr. gave him some ointment that I have to apply 2 times a day. Doesn't that sound like the funnest thing in the world to do?
So I'm showing you some pics of all my babies, just because I want to use the nifty new slideshow gizmo that I found over at Cheryl's blog.

Picnic Pics

On Saturday I was too tired to take the time for posting pictures of our Women's Fellowship picnic. So, here they are.
It's not a real picnic unless there are ants, right? And we had ants everywhere! On the tables, in the food...and this big, ugly guy smack dab in the middle of everything! As always, the food was wonderful, the fellowship was wonderful, and a great time was had by all!

Summer Picnic!

So, today being a nice, hot, summer's day, we chose a picnic theme for our June Women's Meeting. I have lots of pics to show you, but it's too late right now and I'm too tired to mess with putting them all up, so I will do it either tomorrow or Monday. I just realized that I hadn't posted in a week again, so thought I'd better check in.
Helen, our Women's Ministries Director in our church, always does such an outstanding job of bringing the devotional for the Word of God. But today was particuarly good. Our theme for the year is "Having a Mary Heart In A Martha World" based on the story in the Bible of the two sisters, Mary and Martha. (If you're not familiar with the story, read in Luke 10:38-42) This morning was definately a "Martha's World" morning for me. So when I got to church, and began to fellowship with the ladies, and then when Helen brought forth the Word, it just ministered to my spirit so much. The topic was "Top Ten Ways To Tame our Worry Habit" She gave us a list of 10 things to do, but #1 is PRAY! and #2 is Meditate on God's Promises. And as I did those things, the "stress" of my "Martha" morning began to disappear and God's peace began to fill me so that the rest of my day ended up being relaxed and filled with good things.
And you know what? That's exactly what I prayed on the way to church this morning - that God would give Helen just the right things to say that would meet the needs of the ladies there. So I think Him for answered prayer and for His Word, because it is alive and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword!
TTFN and all that jazz! :)

E-Mail Virus Warning!

Virus Warning
Just wanted to send you this Warning and to be on the Lookout! There's absolutely no cause for Alarm. This is just to prepare you for the Event.
I thought you would want to know about this e-mail virus. Even the most advanced programs from Norton or McAfee cannot take care of this one. It appears to affect those who were born prior to 1960.
Symptoms:
1. Causes you to send the same e-mail twice.
2. Causes you to send a blank e-mail.
3. Causes you to send e-mail to the wrong person.
4. Causes you to send it back to the person who sent it to you.
5. Causes you to forget to attach the attachment.
6. Causes you to hit 'SEND' before you've finished.
7. Causes you to hit 'DELETE' instead of 'SEND.'
8. Causes you to hit 'SEND' when you should 'DELETE.'
IT IS CALLED THE 'C-NILE VIRUS.'

Egad, Brain! It's Friday the 13th!

I used to love to watch the cartoon "Pinky & The Brain", and I loved it when Pinky would use that phrase, "Egad, Brain"!
Well, here it is, Friday the 13th, supposedly Bad-luck Friday. However, I don't believe in bad "luck" or good "luck". I don't believe in "luck" at all. What I do believe is that, if you live according to the commandments laid out by Jesus in the Bible, you will be blessed. If you do not live according to the scripture, you will be cursed. I don't believe anything happens without a reason. Many times that reason is unknown to us humans, but God has a purpose and a time for everything under the sun.
So, if you don't want to have "bad luck", then just live according to the Bible and you will be blessed in ways you could never imagine! :) TTFN

Use of Cardboard

A car gets a flat on the interstate one day. The blonde driver eases it over onto the shoulder of the road, carefully steps out of the car and opens the trunk. She takes out two cardboard men, unfolds them & stands them at the rear of the vehicle
facing oncoming traffic.

The lifelike cardboard men are in trench coats exposing their nude bodies & private parts to approaching drivers.

Not surprisingly, the traffic becomes snarled & backed up. It isn't very long before a police car arrives. The officer, clearly enraged, approaches the blonde of the disabled vehicle yelling, 'What's going on here?'

'My car broke down, officer' says the woman calmly.

'Well, what are these obscene cardboard pictures doing here by the road?' he asks.

'Helllooooooo!!!!' says the blonde. 'Those are my "emergency flashers"!'

All Moved In!

I'm finally all moved into my new shed/cottage! I know some of you may think this is totally silly on my part to be so excited about a shed in my backyard. But if you knew how long I've wanted this and how long it took to get it constructed once it was purchased, then you'd understand why it's such a big deal to me. It is soooo nice to have all my stuff for parties/events in one place, instead of sharing space with hubby's tools in the garage, or stuffed under my bed, or all over the floor in my office. Now everything is contained in one area, organized with labels, so that when I need something, all I have to do is open the doors and pull it out of its little "home", then place it back when I'm finished.
This is what the inside looks like from left to right:

Girl Friend Get-Together

So today on my street was a block-long yard sale. I didn't know it was going to happen and so I didn't get to go to any of it, as I had already made other plans for the day. So, bummer, cause I'm sure I missed out on some good deals. O well, I don't really need any more 'junque' anyhow, as I still haven't finished putting everything in my shed/cottage.
My 'other plans' were getting together with my girl friends from High School. You remember they came to my house back in February and we hadn't seen each other since then. So today we met for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. O, and let me tell you, if you've never eaten at this restaruant (not sure if I spelled that right - it somehow doesn't look right to me right now), run, don't walk, to the nearest location and order up some GREAT food! Not just the cheesecake, which was ABSOLUTELY FAB - U - LOUS, but the Luau Salad that I ordered was just as yummy, with a beautiful presentation. So, we ate, and chatted, and ate some more, and chatted some more, and pretty much ate all afternoon (almost 5 hours). Then before we left, we snapped these pics. And we all look exactly like we did when we were in high school, 34 years ago (and if you believe that, I've got some swamp land I'll make you a deal on! lol). We had a great time, and as usual, the time flew by all too quickly and we had to say good-bye.

Making Progress, I Think

No pics today, but I will have some up soon of all the organization going on in my little "cottage", aka, shed. I have moved shelving units from the garage to the shed, plus added two other units that I purchased this week. All my silk flowers, and there are a TON of them, are all in plastic storage bins according to color, and all labeled and looking pretty on their shelves. Likewise, the tea sets (16 of 17 that is). I've filled three walls so far with all my catering and decorating stuff. I've hauled so much out of my office inside the house, and it seems like I've hardly made a dent. And once I get everything moved and organized, I will start on the closet in my office. My plan is to turn it into a paper crafting/scrapbooking station. I knew I had lots of stuff, but I had no idea I had this much. I'm not sure if this makes me a "collector" or just a major packrat! One thing I do know, when it's all said and done, I'm going to be able to decorate for any event in any color scheme!
Okay, enough whining for now. Hopefully tomorrow I will gets some pics of my nice, neatly organized "cottage"! But for now, I need a nice looonng rest. TTFN, Brenda

What Color Lip Gloss Should I Wear?

You Should Wear Pink Pearl Lip Gloss

Sheer, luscious, and over the top flirty.

Your Ice Cream Personality:

You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it's true that you don't talk yourself up... but you're also pretty happy with who you are.

You have a wild reputation, but you're not as wild as you seem. You take risks, but only measured risks.

You are a somewhat open minded person, but deep down you're fairly conservative. You don't like trying new things very much. And if you do find something new you like, you stick with it.

You are a natural multitasker. You feel alive when you're doing more than one thing at a time.

You are a serious and contemplative person. You definitely do your own thing in life.
